About ION Companies
ION Companies started in 2017, but the work behind it goes back much further.
Before ION, we spent years developing business solutions — systems that had to stay online, scale, and work reliably for people who depended on them every day. We’ve worked in the mainstream music industry, radio technology, blockchain, and even shipped a streaming application that went on to sponsor the Grammy Awards. That still feels a little surreal.
Along the way, we’ve been lucky — lucky to work with thoughtful engineers who care about doing things the right way, and with customers who trust us with systems that are critical to how their business operates. That includes national insurance companies, dealerships, among others.
Not everything we’ve done has been massive or flashy, and that’s humbling. We’ve designed logos for small local businesses and taken on larger branding projects as well, including signage and identity work for a resort in the Thousand Islands. Before starting ION, @fullStackDad managed a graphic design company in the same region, working in fine-art reproduction, print media, and early application prototypes with SUNY college students. Prior to that, he worked as a Data Services Engineer (DCIM) for Emerson Network Power
Today, we’re based in upstate New York, building solutions with people who value long-term relationships over quick wins. In short, we don’t chase trends or over-promise — we focus on understanding the problem, designing something that makes sense, and leaving things better than we found them.

This is the pattern we ship in production: the UI emits events, a WebSocket channel broadcasts updates, and any subscribed dashboard reflects changes in real time—no refresh, no polling.
